What is Pitti Uomo you may ask? It is a four-day market-facing trade show in Florence, Italy that draws retailers, editors, and menswear enthusiasts from around the globe. This biannual gathering is where brands show off their latest collections to eager store buyers and editors in hopes that their upcoming collection will garner sales and press coverage alike.
I attended Pitti #89 last week – a fun and educational experience, great for building industry relationships and celebrating men’s fashion with others in the business. Sure, there are what we lovingly call “peacocks,” guys who are there to only get their photo taken on the plaza for their Instagram account or for various fashion publications from around the world, but ultimately, it’s the place to see where men’s fashion is heading so we can be at the forefront of the newest trends.
Seeing what’s in store for next AW16 from Brunelli Cucinelli, Nick Wooster’s collection for Lardini, Orlebar Brown and countless others is so inspiring and I can’t wait to not only wear these collections myself, but also share them with my clientele.
Caio for now, Italy, and I can’t wait to attend Piit Uomo #90 in June for SS17.
