Travel is an essential part of my business between International Fashion Weeks and clients getting ready for upcoming seasons, special events, holidays, etc., it’s always a jet-set packed schedule. Everyone knows I love a well-tailored semi-formal look, but sometimes (particularly if you’re crossing the Atlantic twice in the same week) you want to be comfortable. Contrary to the common perception, that doesn’t mean looking like a lazy teenager stepping off the jetway in oversized sweats.
Start with a versatile, breathable top like the new Compact Fleece Hoodie from James Perse. For pants, you want something that will stretch comfortably, as you make your adjustments in your seat — the Surge Pant from Lululemon has been a go-to for me. A relaxed, but tapered fit that you can sleep in without losing your look walking through Heathrow.
Finally, as it’s been said, your body, but particularly your feet expand in flight, so be prepared with a stylish pair of socks and a comfortable option for your feet. Between carrying luggage, going through security, and the nicks and bangs our gear takes through the travel process, you’ll need something malleable and easy to take off and put back on throughout your journey. I love the Adidas Tubular Shadow sneaker for long trips. The mesh design allows for some give, and it has good shock absorption for all the walking. Safe travels, see you in the sky ✌🏼✈️
A couple of weeks ago, I was invited to check out AG JEANS‘ SS17 line. Sporty, contemporary styles that work well on casual but stylish evenings, during these warmer months. One of my favorites of the collection was their new Zane Bomber Jacket. I paired it with a pleated tuxedo shirt and charcoal cargo pants to keep things comfortable without neglecting a touch of detail. Get the complete look below. ✌🏼
Over the last few decades, few brands have held their place in American mainstream fashion like Banana Republic. When our clients are looking for casual, day-to-day pieces, we keep our eye out for style, fit and durability. A few weeks ago Banana Republic reached out to The Weitz Effect about incorporating a few of their latest Spring/Summer line into our day-to-day repertoire, and sent us a few pieces to try. Here were our favorites:
This season is all about breathable, comfortable activewear. A great lightweight, short-sleeve polo can be the most versatile piece during the hotter months. Banana Republic introduced their Slim Luxe Touch GEO Polo, which not only felt great, but also fit just right. You can wear it during intense activity (like sitting on a blazing tennis court in 90-degree heat 😜) or throw a blazer over it if you’re running to a quick meeting.
We paired the polo with another offering, these ultra comfortable Slim Traveler Pants in Navy. They come in a few other great colors too, that are worth checking out. They’re made well, soft and have a great feel on the move. The five pocket cotton pants will definitely get a lot of use over the next few months.
With all the rain we’ve gotten in the past few months, We were pretty excited to give Banana Republic’s Four-Pocket Military Jacket a try. Talk about staying dry in style. The cut is classic, and the neckline snaps all the way up with a hidden hood which is great if you’re traveling through alternating climates. It pairs well with basics like their Soft Wash Classic Crew t-shirt, and a lighter toned Slim Traveller Pant. They’ve really taken a classic look and made it modern and fresh, which is something we always look for when lining our client’s wardrobes.
Overall, it’s hard to ignore the style, quality, and accessibility of BR‘s new line. While their products have always been synonymous with American style, they’re latest collection is a great fit for the exceptional modern man.
The perfect addition to the detailed wardrobe.
